Calcioferrite is a hydrated calcium iron phosphate with hydroxyl groups. It was described as a new mineral species from specimens preserved in the collection of the University of Heidelberg, supposedly obtained from Battenberg, Leiningerland, Bad Dürkheim, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, which would consequently be its type locality. The name refers to the presence of calcium and iron in its chemical composition.
