Evansite is a mineral of the phosphate mineral class.[1] It was discovered in 1855 in a mine in the municipality of Sirk, in the Banská Bystrica region (Slovakia), and was named in 1864 in honor of the English geologist Brooke Evans who discovered the first specimen.
