Single polished ammonite measuring 25 to 28 cm. Ammonoidea, commonly known as ammonites, are a subclass of extinct cephalopod mollusks that existed in the seas from the Devonian to the Cretaceous. Thanks to their rapid evolution and worldwide distribution, they are excellent fossils for dating rocks (guide fossils).
