Azurite , also known as Chesilite or Blue Malachite , is a mineral derived from and associated with copper. It belongs to the carbonate group. When a phenomenon called "pseudomorphism" occurs, a molecule that causes the formation of malachite is altered. This occurs when the mineral is exposed to the elements.
