Bivalves were a type of mollusk made up of two non-symmetrical valves that connect with a hinge of organic matter. They usually had interlocking teeth along the hinge. Bivalves generally bury themselves in sediment, stone, or wood, or attach to objects with their feet. They were filter feeders.
