ChoKuRei is one of the three main symbols used in Reiki. This sign acts on the physical dimension of beings, causing changes that translate into gradual organic restorations to finally achieve the healing of the individual. The word Cho means to draw a curved line (or curved sword), Ku means to pierce to make a hole (to draw a space where there is absolutely nothing) and Rei means mystical power, transcendental spirit, “the essence”. For this reason, Cho Ku Rei is usually translated as “All the power of the Universe is here” or “God is here”, that is, “may the divine will be done for that person or that situation”. The cho ku rei symbol is said to work as a “switch” and its purpose is to improve the power of Reiki, increasing or decreasing the flow of energies and modifying the flow of “ki”. That is, it amplifies and/or focuses the power of Reiki and brings the energy to the present moment. In addition to being applied for the purpose mentioned above, this symbol can also be used as a protective mantra for people or places.
