We present this piece of very good quality, good-sized fluorite crystals. The crystals are layered with an AY-type tone. If you look closely, you can see different shades within each crystal. You can also observe barite crystals and quartz points.
Fluorite is a group III mineral (halides) that, according to the Strunz classification, forms the elements calcium and fluorine.
Its structure belongs to the cubic system, and is presented with cubic, octahedral and rhombic dodecahedral habits.
Fluorite exhibits physical properties of thermoluminescence and fluorescence.
In industry, it is mainly used in iron and steel metallurgy. It is used as a source of fluorine and hydrofluoric acid, and also in the enamelling of ceramics and in the manufacture of optical glass.
The beauty of the specimens makes it a highly appreciated mineral by museums and private collectors.
