Scolecite is a mineral belonging to the tectosilicate class and the zeolite group, with the chemical formula Ca(Al₂Si₃O₁₀)·3H₂O. Its name comes from the Greek word "skolex" (worm), due to the shape of the flame it forms when burned with a blowtorch. It typically occurs in acicular or filamentous crystals, or as radial aggregates, and can be colorless, white, pink, or salmon-colored.
