Also called Libyan Crystal or Desert Crystal. This tektite was generated by the impact of a meteorite in the current area of Western Egypt, close to the border with Libya. The more rounded shape (weathered) is a product of the desert area where they are found and its alteration by the desert sand. These tektites were found in Tutankhamun's Egyptian chamber, considered jewels. The approximate age is estimated to be 29 million years and its composition is pure silica, formed at about 1600 ºC.
