La Vanadinita fue considerada como un mineral raro. Descubierta por Andrés Manuel del Rio, en el año 1830, en Zimapán (México). Es un mineral muy pesado pero frágil. Normalmente es Transparente o translúcido. Sus cristales, pueden perder el brillo y transparencia si quedan expuestos a la luz.
